phyllis cole-dai: Music Room

"Beautiful Is the Moon"

(Sung by Ami Peacock and Paul Fannin;  Kurt Smith, Vickie Murphy on guitar;  Spanish translation by Ami Peacock)

Beautiful is the Moon
who dances with the stars
and glides across the sky's floor
as the planets watch,  afar.
She casts the shadows of the night,
promising light to come,
then blows a parting kiss to bless
the forehead of the sun.

"Take my hand, child,"
she calls from heaven;
"Won't you please dance with me tonight?
There's no need to be afraid of the night.
Close your eyes,
listen to the music;
let it carry you away!
Slow and graceful,  we'll dance til the break of day."

(Ending:)  Precious is the sleeping child
who dances with the moon
and glides across the sky's floor
to a sweet celestial tune.
